Storage Connectivity: Beyond the Box
|
 |
There are two things to consider with a comprehensive storage
solution: the type of storage and the connectivity. And before
committing to a type of connectivity, you need to decide on storage
area network (SAN), network attached storage (NAS), or a
combination of both. If you go with SAN, you need to weigh the pros
and cons between iSCSI and Fibre Channel. While iSCSI is perfect
for small businesses looking to share volumes over an Ethernet LAN,
it can lead to greater power consumption and long-term costs. Fibre
Channels have higher upfront costs, but are ideal for larger
businesses looking to share volume files in a designated network
with approved personnel. At CDW, we'll help you determine the best
storage solution for your business - from the assessment and
implementation to the maintenance and upgrade support.
