What would you recommend for...
Many of the questions I get via e-mail start with these five words. Some people want to know which spas I recommend for hiking or yoga. Others want to know about the best spa for going solo, for men, for affordability (another very popular one), and so on. I thought I would answer a few hundred of these questions all at once by introducing you to the brand new 2008 Readers' Choice Awards list!

I often suggest that people check our list of award winners - especially the "Top Ten" in 25 different categories - when they are looking for a recommendation. More often than not, I agree with the readers' choices.

Have fun perusing this list of readers' favorites, which was just announced this week. The list will stay up all year on SpaFinder.com, so bookmark this page, so you can refer to it again and again!
E-mail your spa question to Susie at asksusie@spafinder.com.

Masseuse vs. Massage Therapist

In conversations, I often hear people-both spa enthusiasts and not-refer to massage therapists as masseuses or masseurs. That's a big no-no, and I'll tell you why!

The words masseuse and masseur can have unseemly connotations, referring to low-end service providers that may be a bit, well, seedy. Massage therapists, on the other hand, are licensed massage providers of the sort who work at reputable spas, and they appreciate it when you use the correct term!

Two new books by noted science authors contend that most of us are genetically fated to be overweight, but it's not that simple.
"There's a pair of new books that take a radical view of being overweight. It's not your fault, they claim; you're a prisoner of your genes. The outlook - biology is all - is diametrically opposed to the prevailing behaviorist theory of weight. . . ." Read the article
